FESPA FESPA Future Leaders by Nigel Davies, FESPA Australia President “If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a Leader.” John Quincy Adams I suspect many of us did some soul searching through the last couple of challenging years and speaking as a business owner, it was a scary time. It did make me reflect, though, on the value of effective leadership. What were my leadership failings? What can I pass on to the next generation of people who will also face challenges? How can we learn from our mistakes? Yes, you can go on courses, read numerous books and articles, listen to podcasts and the like, but the most value lies in learning from real-life situations and hearing it from real-life people. We planted the seed for the FESPA Future Leaders Program, and discussions took place with some of the top leadership coaches in Australia and highly respected and knowledgeable industry leaders. Together, they garnered their knowledge and expertise to help develop a bespoke program for developing emerging leaders for our industry. Although the focus is on personal and professional development to reach your full potential, we are mindful that we are also looking for future industry leaders. Those people who are talented in themselves are open, creative, curious, and passionate about our industry. Only through collective action and working together can we face future industry challenges.
